Library celebrating all month

Libraries across the country will celebrate National Library Week April 13-19, a yearly observance sponsored by The American Library Association.

Fauquier libraries will join the celebration by commemorating libraries and reading throughout April. Programs and special events are planned for all ages.

Teens will be invited to review books on display, leave comments for other teens, and make suggestions based on what they like and what they would like to see displayed. See more about library programs and services for teens.

Science Surprises, a program for school aged students, will feature bubbling, popping, fizzing and slime. Get the details.

Author Susan Crites will read to preschool children during special story times at all Fauquier libraries. Get the details.

READ posters "starring" community leaders, library patrons, volunteers, and staff will decorate the county's libraries throughout April. Let library staff know if you would like to become a reading star.

Most library users are familiar with the basic functions of the library catalog, but many are not aware of some of the catalog's special features. This month staff will be on hand to help patrons create online accounts with the library so that they can take full advantage of this powerful tool. Learn about its features now.

If you don't already have a library card, apply for one at your local Fauquier library or online at http://library.fauquiercounty.gov/.

Library lovers who wish to support the library through donations will want to visit the library's Amazon Wish List. There are separate lists for adult and children’s titles, currently more than 50 items are on the combined lists.
