All schools represented @ library this summer

The library's summer reading programs for children and teens concluded Aug. 14 and the number of books read by participants have been tallied.

This year 1,720 participants representing every public and private school in the county collectively read 32,928 books, an average of 19 books per reader. The total exceeded the library's goal for books to be read by nearly 3,000 books.
Congratulations readers!

Congratulations too, to the following schools for the most books read over the 2010 summer reading program!
  • Elementary School: Coleman, 2501 books read
  • Middle School: Cedar Lee, 689 books read
  • High School: Liberty, 291 books read

And thanks again to summer reading program sponsors. Because of the generosity of the summer reading programs' sponsors, the library presented more than 150 events this summer that nearly 2,800 children, teens and adults attended.
