Tax forms coming soon

They haven't arrived yet, but all Fauquier County Public Library branches will receive supplies of frequently-used 2010 IRS forms and instructions in January. The forms are distributed free of charge.

Other IRS forms can be downloaded and printed at the library for 15 cents per page, and you can download forms to your home or office computer directly from the IRS.

Memorial and honorary gifts are special ways to remember loved ones

If you are struggling with what to give someone this holiday season, consider making a donation to Fauquier County Public Library in the name of a friend, family member, special teacher or even a beloved pet. The library will notify the honored person of your generosity and a special book plate naming the honoree will be placed in any item purchased with your donation.

You might also consider including Fauquier County Public Library in your will or as a beneficiary in trust. Your banker, attorney or financial advisor can help you make the necessary arrangements for this type of donation.

Library 'wishes' easy to grant

It seems everyone has someone on their Christmas list who is difficult to buy for. And don't you love it when you get a "wish list"?

The library has just such a list of items it "wishes" to put in the collection. Actually two lists: one for adults and one for children and teens. And buying books and other items for the library is good on several levels: 1) you'll be donating to something you love; 2) you may be able to write off the donation on your taxes (check with your accountant or the IRS); and 3) others will enjoy your gift, or gifts, for years to come.

See more about donating to the library.

Santa coming to libraries (Mrs. Claus too!)

Seeing Santa at the mall is so time-consuming - and stressful too.

Fortunately, Santa will make an appearance at all Fauquier County public libraries this coming week and, happily, he'll bring Mrs. Claus along. Families are invited to sing, hear holiday stories and have a jolly good time, and it's free and stress-free. Just don’t forget to bring your camera.

The Clauses will land first at the Bealeton Library on Monday, Dec. 6. Enjoy the lighting of the community Christmas tree and sing carols beginning at 6:45 p.m., then come into the library to hear stories and visit with Santa and the Missus at 7 p.m.

The following day the couple will visit the John Marshall Library at 4:30 p.m. (Tues., Dec. 7) and that same day they will stop at the Warrenton Library at 7 p.m.

Call (540) 422-8500 for more information.

Enjoy hot cocoa, cookies during parade

All are invited to warm up with hot cocoa and cookies (courtesy of the Friends of the Fauquier Library) in front of the Warrenton Library during the Warrenton parade Saturday, Dec. 4. Staff will serve the holiday cheer from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

After the parade, families are invited to come into the library where children will make Christmas crafts (available 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
