Planning on traveling domestically or abroad? Check out a DVD on your destination to ensure you don't overlook any must-see attractions. The library has something for you if you want to learn belly dance, salsa, tap or learn another type of dance. (A gentleman in his 80s recently came in to check out a DVD to help teach his cousin how to dance like he and his wife used to.)
Missed episodes of the incredible BBC series The Blue Planet and Planet Earth or want to see the whole beautiful series again? Or maybe you’d rather hark back to a BBC series like Bleak House or the A&E classics, such as Jewel in the Crown or Pride and Prejudice. Seems I rediscover something wonderful every weekend.
Resolved to cook more this year? I just noticed the DVD Julia Child: America’s Favorite Chef on the shelf and there are many other cooking DVDs to pique your interest. Easiest way to search is by using keywords and narrowin down your search even more with the "advanced" search function.
Planning to build a deck, add a room, do repairs, or update the kitchen? See the Today’s Homeowner series. Want to take a course? Check out The Great Courses series, which covers everything from the history of the Catholic church to quantum mechanics. There are DVDs for almost every subject area.
Sign up to see the newest additions weekly, or search the catalog by title, keyword or subject. Tip: In the box that defaults to “View Entire Collection,” change to “Audio/Visual Materials - All.” Or you can search by call number “DVD” then scroll down to select “Limit/Sort Search.”
If you need help narrowing your search or finding something specific, contact the reference desk for help, (540) 422-8500, ext. 6862.
