Teens: Artistic Ts, self defense, glow in the dark jewelry, more

Summer is a great time for teens to try new things, so Fauquier libraries are hosting a series of free events especially for students entering 6th grade or higher in the fall called Own the Night.
Turn an old T-shirt into a work of art with a bleach pen and imagination at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the Bealeton Library. Just bring in a T-shirt (black or dark colors work best). Friends of the Fauquier Library is providing the pens.

How street smart are you? Martial Arts coach Chris Manuel will teach the basics of self-defense and personal safety at all of the Fauquier Library branches on July 9. Wear comfortable clothes and come prepared for a great workout. Please sign up prior to July 9; call (540) 422-8500.

Beat the heat during teen movie night at the library. Drop in for a showing of a popular movie and free freshly popped popcorn. (We're not allowed to publish the name of the movie online because of an agreement with our movie supplier, but it's a stop-motion animated fantasy musical film directed by Tim Burton starring Johnny Depp - you'll like it.)

Glow in the Dark Jewelry Craft — Create beads using recycled materials covered with glowing embossing powder for a one-of-a-kind necklace, bracelet or anklet. Friends of the Fauquier Library to the rescue again - they've supplied all the materials.
See more about teen events this summer. Teens registering for the Own the Night series have the opportunity to win free prizes. Register now.
