The most important school supply of all

How would you like your children to have access 24/7 to a world of reliable online information, trained professionals to help them locate resources to complete homework assignments, online language courses, and thousands of books, audio books, CDs, DVDs, e-books and downloadable audio books to choose from?

All of this is available free at any Fauquier County Public Library or on the library website.  In addition, there are special events designed to reinforce school curriculum, including preschool story times, after school special events and regularly scheduled programs such as the Paws to Read programs and teen writing groups. There are opportunities for teens to earn community service hours by volunteering and  the library’s Teen Advisory Groups provide teens the valuable experience of planning activities.

“Make sure your child has a library card in their backpack,” says Library Director Maria Del Rosso, “it’s the most important school supply of all.”

With a library card students can use encyclopedias and other reference resources and find thousands of magazine and newspaper articles every day no matter what time it is or what the weather is like, an especially valuable service for those last-minute homework assignments. And the information is delivered without ads. Get quick links for children and teens now.

Need a library card? Complete a short online application. Once you apply you can immediately use online resources and check out e-books and e-audio books.

And, when students get stumped while doing research, help is a just phone call away by calling (540) 422-8500 during library hours or email questions and a librarian will respond as soon as possible.

Don't miss the library's parents and educators pages.
